A Well Mouth - A/V Live (2023)

“A Well Mouth”, the latest artistic brainchild by the audiovisual duo from Ferrara, takes its name from an excerpt of a collection of works by Superstudio, a Florentine collective of radical architects active between the mid-1960s and the late 1970s. The work is inspired by a design proposal put forward by the Tuscan group in correspondence with the expansion of the Modena cemetery and subsequently never built, in which the construction and function of an alternative funeral system were theorized, consisting of a hypothetical network of wells of the dead.
Starting from this concept, POL100 and SINTETICO invite the audience to make a journey accompanying the figure of the deceased, between catabasis and anabasis, within an unexplored territory detached from the realm of the living.
On an auditory perspective, the work constitutes an immersion in a single flow of sounds in perpetual change; a passage between states of balance and inner atmospheres that is reminiscent of a stream of consciousness and that differs from traditional construction canons of music-making due to its tendency towards deconstruction and loss of rhythm.
